Undergraduate project

During my undergraduate degree in Biology and Animal Behaviour I completed a research project entitled, 'Is boldness affected by the strain, or presence of a conspecific, in Mangrove Killifish (Kyrptolebias marmoratus)?'. In this project I investigated boldness both within and between different clone lines of killifish and observed whether individuals became bolder when in the presence of another individual of the same clone line.

I conducted two experiments: a simulated predator attack, and an exploration experiment.

I concluded that boldness does differ between different clone lines, and that individuals were often bolder when in the presence of a conspecific than when alone.
